Wake up and be intentional with your day by joining a group mediation. Start your morning with a calming meditation that boosts your mood, helps direct your focus and provides clarity. Incorporating meditation into your morning routine is a wonderful way to set the tone for the day, carving out time for yourself, to gain that sense of grounding before life gets underway.

So, what is meditation exactly? Many may believe in it is merely sitting, contemplating life and reflecting on the present moment. It has also been said meditating is a form of daydreaming or fantasizing about the future, but meditation really has nothing to do with any of this.

Meditation is a holistic practice intent on calming the mind and finding a deeper state of consciousness or enlightenment, essentially an understanding that is completely unlike the average state of the unconscious mind aimlessly moving through life on autopilot. It is a means to connect with your inner workings on a deeper level and find balance which ultimately results in more clarity and peace.

Practicing group meditation, you relax. You clear the mind and focus inward. Meditation is experienced while you are awake but not distracted by the outside world.  The primary goal we are trying to achieve is to go beyond the mind and its complex workings to reveal our true selves. From this place we foster compassion, empathy and a state-of-being that is in flow with nature (life) and not working against it. You will find more ease in your everyday experiences.

Yoga nidra, the style of meditation I teach, is also known as yogic sleep is guided. During a group mediation session, I guide students through visualizations, breathwork and mindfulness principles to help students work through patterns, emotions, sensations as they arise while releasing the need to feel attached to them.
